I am finally getting around to announcing the 25th year anniversary of my independent record label, DB!SPA Records, founded in Seattle, Washington in 1999. It was created to promote non-secular dance music. We started out promoting black producers who weren’t creating what I referred to way back then as “devil music.” C. Delores Tucker, 1999.
Over the years I have not changed my prerogative and what started out as a music mission dedicated to Christ and the angels has remained relatively holy/moral and is now dba as Superblack Records, a pan-African dance label, venturing off into Afro-pop and Spirituals. Hence nothing much has changed over the years.
Considering my background at thirty years old compared to my peers who also started writing music, playing in bands and recording demos as teens (1980’s), my greatest accomplishments include membership to the Western Washington BBB, membership to ASCAP, e-commerce websites since 1999 and the establishment of Rate this Record.
Conversely, there will be no large royalty checks, Grammy nominations or induction to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’m okay with that. It’s been a blessing to have stayed attached to my greatest hobby and my true passion, music, after all of these years.
Praise God,
Boom
